a Tribute to Ernie Rodrigues

With Special Thanks And Appreciation

The Livermore High School Softball Team would like to show our respect, admiration and appreciation to Ernie Rodrigues.  The admired pubic servant Ernie dedicated himself to the betterment of the Tri Valleys Parks and Recreation Departments for over 50 years.

Ernie passed away  years ago, we want to make sure we acknowledged the man who the Stampede’s fields are named after.

Ernie was a Korean War Veteran and a outstanding athlete who dominated softball as a pitcher in the Bay Area for years.  Ernie was an LARPD Board Member for 24 years.  He was selected as the Man of the Year in 1983 for his outstanding contributions to the betterment of the Livermore Parks and Recreation Facilities.  Ernie held such prestigious positions as President of the Livermore Boosters and the Livermore Softball Association.  Ernie was often referred to as The Father of Valley Softball.

In 2001, Senator Tom Torlakson acknowledged Ernie for his dedication and life long service to the City of Livermore Parks and Recreation Department.  Ernie was also an extremely respected softball coach, as well as a soccer and basketball official in the Tri Valley.  In his spare time, Ernie taught Tri Valley softball girls how to pitch competitively.

Ernie was a devoted family man and was loved by all who knew him.

Ernie passed away in June of 2015 at the age of 85.  Though he has passed on, we want to let his family and friends know the his legacy and devotion to his community will never be forgotten.

Rip our dear friend,

Ernest “Ernie” Rodrigues
